Okay, that's a pretty big statement. But, with the enormous Music Source song library, it's almost always true. Music Source brings the largest documented mobile music library in the State of Illinois to each and every show. Our standing library is right now more than 30,000 songs and it grows by dozens of selections each week. That's NOT adding up all of the titles in multiple shows (as some deejay services have been known to do). That's the count of unduplicated songs that will be on hand at YOUR event.
Our music library dates back to 1890, but it's also as current as this week's Top 40..and next week's...and next week's. We have rock, country, dance, rap, metal, adult contemporary, big band, 50's-60's, disco and much more. All eras, all genres, all types of music...and they're all at your disposal when you invite Music Source to be a part of your party.
Sorry, We Can't Afford to Mail You a Song Listing.
At Music Source we believe that, if a deejay can mail you a song listing, they don't have enough music. Our songlisting runs to more than 280 pages (plus we print out a weekly supplement that includes our latest additions). Each page is single spaced in 6 point type. There are more than a hundred listings per page! Think about the song listings you may have received from other deejays. How big are they...twelve, maybe fourteen pages? And many of the lists we've seen have some pretty big type that allows for maybe only 40 or 50 songs per page. That's just not enough music to really be able to handle open requests from any audience. At Music Source, we not only encourage requests, we regularly fill 90% or more at every show!
So, if you want to pay for the printing and postage involved in mailing our song list, we'd be glad to send you a copy. But instead of asking for our list, why don't you just send us yours?
No Filler Here.
There is nothing more rewarding to a Music Source Deejay than to put on a song and, when the first few notes come blasting out of the speakers, hear a crowd scream...literally SCREAM...as they run onto the dance floor. They react that way because they know the song. That's why virtually all of the songs, old and new, in the Music Source library are hits. It's an important distinction. An album usually contains anywhere from 14 to 20 songs, but maybe only two or three of them were ever played on the radio. Beyond that, maybe only one other cut is really worthwhile when it comes to recognition (case in point: Led Zepplin's "Stairway to Heaven" was never released as a single but it still seems to have gained a little recognition, don't you think?). But, back to our example...the question is, should you count all 14 songs as valuable selections in your music library? We don't think so, although many deejays do. What we count are the hits: songs that have received airplay or developed recognition at some point in the last hundred years or so. Sure, that obscure Pink Floyd album cut might be really good, but if only two people in the room have ever heard it, it's not going to get a crowd onto the dance floor.
Don't be fooled by wild claims! We've seen deejay services claiming as many as 200,000 songs in their mobile library. We've also asked to see the documentation and they can't back it up with anything more than listings of a few hundred songs. Carrying around 5,000 CDs and claiming a 100,000 song library because "there are about 20 songs on each CD" is worthless unless the songs and artists are documented and the cuts are worthwhile and accessible. If a deejay doesn't know he has a song, what's the point in having it? Music Source maintains a meticulously curated database of music organized by both title and artist for each of our mobile units. Our database is regularly updated with new selections and refined to increase our ability to locate any song quickly and easily.
Absolutely Brand New Music Every Week...
If you like new music, you're going to love Music Source. Some songs are only really cool when they're really new. Give a cut a couple of weeks and it's lost the luster. That's why it's so important that your deejay has the absolute latest music the instant it comes out. Guess what? Music Source does just that.
Music Source subscribes to a national music service that allows us to receive a compilation CD of the new music being released each week in all formats (Easy Listening, Top 40, Rock/Rap, Country). It's the same CD that is sent to radio station program directors in the top 30 radio markets in the United States. The radio stations start to play the new cuts as soon as they get the update but it can take weeks or even months before the songs really take off and become 'hits'....especially in the midwest. Most music breaks on the coasts and works its way into the middle of the country. So, by the time your guests request the "absolute newest, coolest song" that they just heard on the radio, we've already had it in our library for weeks. That's the power of the largest, and most up to date, mobile music library in Illinois.
Note: Since Music Source isn't a radio station, we don't ever try to "break" new music. We only play the new stuff once it's popular enough to be requested. We'll never force something new on your guests just because we think it's good or we think it's going to be a hit.
Let Us Put the Power of Our Library to Work for You.
Imagine a music library so incredibly complete, so amazingly robust that it can provide current rock and hip-hop to a Junior High Dance or nothing but 40's and 50's era music to a retirement center. The same amazing library is able to deliver at both events and all of the selections are by request so the tunes being played are exactly what each of these unique crowds really wants to hear. The unbelievably complete Music Source music library can do just that. Most performance scenarios aren't quite as extreme as those examples but, still, we bring everything to every show and we encourage your guests to put the power of our music know-how to the test.
It's time to stop worrying about whether your deejay is going to have the right mix of music for your event. Just call Music Source. Think about this: you want us to fill 4 or 5 hours with music, right? Our library is so enormous that, if we started playing right now, we could play for more than 80 straight days, 24 hours a day, never taking a break and never repeating a song. Filling 4 or 5 hours with just the right songs is no great challenge when you've got that kind of depth and selection at your disposal. Really, it's simple: if you've ever heard it, we've got it and we'd be happy to play it for you. Just give us a call or drop us a line and book your date today!
